6–8 English Teacher (Reading Focused)

Overview:
Salem Christian Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to serve as a Middle School English Teacher for grades 6–8. This role is ideal for someone who loves helping students grow as thoughtful readers, strong communicators, and critical thinkers. The ideal candidate is committed to cultivating a love for reading while integrating Christian values and a biblical worldview into instruction.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging English lessons with a strong emphasis on reading comprehension, literary analysis, vocabulary development, and written expression.
Guide students through a variety of literature, helping them think critically about theme, character, author’s purpose, and worldview.
Foster a classroom culture that encourages a love for reading, meaningful discussion, and thoughtful reflection.
Incorporate Christian principles and a biblical worldview into literature studies and classroom management.
Provide differentiated instruction to support students at varying reading levels and academic abilities.
Assess and monitor student progress through reading assessments, essays, projects, quizzes, and class discussions.
Collaborate with colleagues to maintain consistency in curriculum and instructional practices.
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
Participate in faculty meetings, school events, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in any field (required).
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.
A passion for Christian education and for helping students grow both academically and spiritually.
Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required.
Ability to manage classroom behavior in a positive and constructive manner.
